BALTIMORE – Somers martial arts students competed in the 2019 U.S. International Kuo Shu (Kung Fu) Federation Championship Tournament last month and brought back gold, silver and bronze medals in several categories, including fighting and form.
Master John Scattaretico, of Dragon and Crane, accompanied his students to the international event, held in Maryland on July 27-28. The competition drew more than 700 martial artists—aged 7 to 70—from nearly a dozen countries to compete in hundreds of categories.
The United States Kuo Shu Federation is a non-profit organization, which promotes friendship, unity, physical fitness, harmony, martial arts ethics, and peace in the United States through the principles of Kuo Shu.
Dragon and Crane, an American-Chinese cultural center in Somers, offers programs in the martial arts for all ages, as well as meditation, yoga, and tai chi (dragonandcrane.com).
