BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The Somerset Regional Animal Shelter, on Commons Way in Bridgewater, is taking part in the National Clear the Shelters Event Aug. 17 from noon to 4 p.m.

According to a release, all animals over 6 months of age will have their adoption fees waived for qualified adopters. In addition, the release said, all kittens under 6 months of age will be $50.

"We are thrilled to participate in this event," shelter manager Brian Bradshaw said in the release.

Last year in the event, Bradshaw said, nearly 20 animals were adopted.

Currently, the release said, the shelter is overflowing with cats and kittens, with more coming each day.

"This event could not have come at a better time," said assistant shelter manager Rose Tropeano in the release. "Our catteries are full and we have many wonderful cats and kittens that need permanent homes."
