Baseball: Bernards Advances with 6-4 Win over Monmouth Regional


TINTON FALLS, NJ - Bernards scored five runs in its last three turns at bat and rallied for a 6-4 victory over Monmouth Regional in the quarterfinal round of the NJSIAA Central Jersey, Group 2 tournament on Friday.

Timmy Lallis collected four hits in four at-bats, including a double, and drove in a run for Bernards (15-9), which scored two runs in the sixth inning to take a 5-2 lead. Nick Booher went 2-for-2 with an RBI.

Robbie Holmes, who had a hit and an RBI, pitched the first five innings for the Mountaineers to gain the victory. Jack Evleth pitched the last two innings.

Bernards will play Gov. Livingston at Berkeley Heights in the sectional semifinals on Tuesday.

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ - Insurance fraud charges against Franklin Township Clerk Ann Marie McCarthy have been dropped, according to officials.
