Baseball: Bernards Defeats Ridge, 3-1

BERNARDSVILLE, NJ - The Bernards baseball team made the most of its makeup game against district rival Ridge, defeating the Red Devils, 3-1, Wednesday in a game that had been postponed due to rain on opening day.

Jack Evleth pitched a three-hitter for the Mountaineers (11-6) with five strikeouts and one walk. Bernards scored two runs in the first inning and one in the fifth. Timmy Lallis doubled in a run and Robbie Holmes singled him in in the opening inning. Holmes, who had three hits, also singled in the fifth-inning run.

Jack Peacock's RBI double in the seventh inning for Ridge (8-12) broke up Evleth's bid for a shutout.
