Baseball: Bernards Gets By Rahway, 3-2, in Eight Innings

BERNARDSVILLE, NJ - Tommy Hosbach's single in the bottom of the eighth inning brought home Dan Ball with the winning to give Bernards a 3-2 baseball victory over Rahway on Monday.

Ball had walked and stolen second base before Hosbach's hit. Jack Evleth pitched two scoreless innings of relief, striking out two, to gain the victory for Bernards (13-7). Ball, who also had an RBI single in the fourth, pitched the first six innings, striking out seven, walking three and surrendering five hits.

Robbie Holmes had an RBI double to score Phil Mahlik in the fifth to tie the game, 2-2.
