SOMERVILLE, NJ - Bernards rallied in the latter stages but came up short in a 6-4 loss to Somerville in baseball on Friday.

Somerville (1-1) took a 4-0 lead after four innings before the Mountaineers scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning. The Pioneers scored a pair in the home half of the fifth before Bernards added a run in the sixth.

Robbie Holmes hit a three-run triple for Bernards (1-2). Brendan Ryan and Timmy Lallis each had two hits. Phil Mahlik pitched a scoreless inning of relief in the loss.
