Bernards Boys Fencing Upsets Defending State Champions Ridge

BASKING RIDGE NJ - In an exciting upset, Bernards High School boys fencing team defeated defending state champion, Ridge High School 15-12.  The score was neck and neck all evening, but wins by Zack Yung (epee) and Aiden Banyon-Mrak (epee), who each went 3-0, secured the victory for Bernards.  Vaughn Rice (saber) also contributed 3 wins, while Matthew Jacobs (foil) and Jack Werrell (epee) each contributed 2 wins.  The Bernards boys will now face either St. Peter's Prep or Christian Brothers Academy in the Final Four of the NJSIAA Tournament on February 16.

St. Peter's and Christian Brothers will square off today at 4:30 pm at Christian Brothers Academy in Holmdel.
