HOLMDEL, NJ -- The Bernards boys cross-country team earned its place in the Meet of Champions by finishing second overall in the NJSIAA Group 2 meet last Saturday.

The Mountaineers' team score of 80 was one of only two scores in double-digits. Haddonfield finished first with 29. Third-place Voorhees had 125 team points.

Senior Chris Reyda led all Mountaineer runners with a 10th-place finish out of 155 Group 2 runners who entered. Reyda ran the race in 16:47. He was one of three Bernards runners to place in the top 20. Ryan Kleinert was 14th with a 17:00 time, and Edward Byers came in 18th with a time of 17:04.

Bernards also got strong performances from Tim Griffin (17:22), Tim McGrath (17:24), Lucas DaCruz (17:58) and Ryan Frank (19:23).
