BERNARDSVILLE, NJ — The Bernards High School football team, in a season already shortened by COVID-19 adjustments, had been spending several weeks looking for a sixth regular season opponent.

The Mountaineers have now found one. Bernards has added Immaculata to its schedule for a game on Thanksgiving Eve. Immaculata will visit Olcott Field that night, Nov. 25, for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Most teams in New Jersey are playing six or seven regular season games, but Bernards was down to just five games on the schedule after Carteret High School abandoned all fall sports and left the Mountaineers without an opponent the last week of October.

That remains an open week, but the Immaculata game at least gets Bernards up to six opponents now, now counting playoffs.
