Bernards H.S. Sports Roundup for Homecoming Weekend

BERNARDSVILLE NJ - The Mountaineers enjoyed a big homecoming weekend, with more big games on the horizon as championship season continues into November.

Football

The Mounties celebrated thrilled the homecoming crowd at Olcott Field with a convincing victory over county rival Somerville by a score of 35-7.  Senior Running Back Sebastian Sanchez scored two touchdowns.  Quarterback threw for a touchdown and ran for another.  The Mounties season record now stands at 5-2.

Field Hockey

The Field Hockey team advanced in the NJSIAA sectional championship tournament with a 2-0 home victory over Raritan.  Goalie Sara Whelan posted a shutout.  Reagan Thompson and Urte Jessina scored one goal each for the win.  Bernards carries a record of 13-5-3 into their sectional semi-final game against fifth seed Madison.

Soccer

The sixth seed Mountaineers girls soccer squad will host eleventh seed Robbinsville in the NJSIAA Central, Group II championship tournament Tuesday November 2, at 2:00 PM.

The third seed Mountaineers boys soccer team will host fourteenth seed Matawan in the NJSIAA Central, Group II championship tournament Wednesday November 3, at 2:00 PM.  The boys team carries an 11-3-3 record into the match.

Cross Country

The Bernards Cross Country teams will return to the scene of a double sectional championship next Saturday when the run in the North 2, Group II sectional championship at Greystone Park on Saturday, November 6.
