BERNARDSVILLE NJ – Bernards High School will present "The 39 Steps'' at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 24 and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25 in the Performing Arts Center (PAC) in Bernardsville.

The play, described as a madcap comedy, follows the incredible adventures of handsome hero Richard Hannay, complete with stiff-upper-lip, British gung-ho and pencil moustache, as he encounters dastardly murders, double-crossing secret agents, and, of course, devastatingly beautiful women. A parody of Hitchcock’s work by the same name, “The 39 Steps” was first staged in England in 2005 and made its way to Broadway in 2008.  Like the film version, it is based on the story of a falsely accused man trying to make his way to solving a mystery and clearing his name.  However, unlike the film version, the play replaces gasps with guffaws. The play is suitable for all ages.

Mr. Christopher Tomaino and Ms. Brittany Goodwin are directing a group of just 20 actors who play an almost unimaginable 139 parts. Tickets are available at the PAC box office 30 minutes prior to each performance at the door, subject to availability, or online at shsd.revtrak.net (select the BHS Drama/Musical tab), or may be reserved by emailing Becky Hull at rshull34@verizon.net
