MONTGOMERY, NJ -- The Bernards boys swim team finished fourth and the girls team came in 10th at the Skyland Conference Championship (all divisions) swim meet on Monday.

The Mountaineers boys and girls teams each finished first among all Valley Division schools competing in the 17-team meet.

The girls opened up the scoring (the top 12 in each event scored) with an eighth-place medley relay. Izzy Piccone, Grace Korey, Maddie Kiel and Sami Bender's 1:56.21 was also the eighth fastest medley relay in BHS history. Bender also finished sixth in the 50 free and fourth in the 100 free. Bender led off the eighth-place 400 free relay with a 54.72, which moves her 12th fastest all-time swim to eighth. Bender was followed by Piccone, Meghan Lukacsko and Korey.  Korey completed the scoring for Bernards with a tie for sixth place in the 100 breaststroke. Her time of 1:11.60 moves her up to sixth all-time.

The Bernards boys scored in nine events for one of the strongest finishes in school history as they added eight swims to the boys' all-time top 20 tabulation.  The relays placed the highest with the medley relay (No. 5 all-time with an MOC qualifying 1:40.77) swum by Ryan Schuller, Sean Robinson, Joe Kiel and Bryce Lukacsko coming in third, the 200 free relay team of Kiel, Robinson, Matt Snyder and Bryce Lukacsko finishing in a tie for third, and the 400 free relay team of Kiel, Schuller, Bryce Lukacsko, and Snyder placing fifth.  

The shorter free relay featured a No. 10 all-time 50 by Lukacsko and a No. 12 all-time 50 by Kiel while the longer free relay also had two new all-time swims in the 100 free as Snyder jumped on to the list at No. 13 and Lukacsko came in at No. 14.  Schuller and Snyder each added individual points as Schuller was eighth in the 200 free and sixth in the 100 back (with a No. 4 all-time 55.01) and Snyder put up two No. 3 all-time swims with an eighth-place 2:01.78 IM and a sixth-place 53.92 in the fly.  Bryce was sixth in the 50 free and Sean was fifth in the breast.
