Bernards Trounces Metuchen in First Round of State Tourney

BERNARDSVILLE, NJ - The Bernards High girls basketball team won their first round game in the NJSIAA sectional championship on Wednesday in convincing style.  The Mountaineers defeated Metuchen High School, 58-21 on Wednesday at the Lower Gym at BHS.  

Maddie Fairhurst led the way for the Mounties, pouring in 22 points, and pulling down 11 rebounds.  Caroline Baratta contributed with 14 points, 5 steals and 4 assists.

Seventh-seeded Bernards moves on to the second round on Thursday.  They will travel to Manasquan to face the Warriors, who are ranked third in the state.
