Bernards Wrestlers Head to District 15 Tournament


SOMERSET HILLS NJ - On Saturday, Bernards High School wrestlers will begin what could be a three-week quest to reach the prestigious New Jersey state championships in Atlantic City. The Mountaineers have concluded a successful team season together. Now individual wrestlers will compete for individual titles to determine who is the best wrestler in the state in each weight class.

The first step in the tournament is district tournament. The state is broken into 32 districts. Bernards will compete in District 15. Thirteen Bernards wrestlers qualified to compete in District 15 in their weight classes.

Wrestlers from the following ten schools will compete in District 15:  Bernards, Carteret, Irvington, Metuchen, North Hunterdon, Roselle Park, Ridge, Somerville, Weequahic, Westfield.  District 15 will compete at Westfield High School, beginning at 9:30 am on Saturday.

182 lbs - Andres Lezme 

195 lbs - Jackson Burns 

220 lbs - Andrew Best 

285 lbs - Michael Possidonio
