Bernardsville to Join Shared Court on March 1


BERNARDSVILLE NJ - The Bernardsville Municipal Court will stop operating as a separate municipal court and join the shared court of Bedminster and Peapack-Gladstone on March 1.

Court will be in session each Tuesday beginning at 11 a.m.  Court will be held at the Bedminster Municipal Complex, located at 1 Miller Lane in Bedminster. 

Bernardsville attorney Miles S. Winder, III will serve as the municipal prosecutor for the shared court. Winder, who also serves as the president of the New Jersey State Bar Association, maintains a law office in Bernardsville.  He served as the Bernardsville municipal prosecutor from 2001 through 2013, and as the Bernardsville municipal judge from 2013 through 2016.  Winder has also served as the municipal prosecutor in Dunellen.

Judge Katherine Howes will serve as the municipal judge for the shared court. She began a three year term as the judge of the shared court of Bedminster and Peapack-Gladstone in January 2015. She also serves as municipal judge in South Plainfield and Raritan Borough. She served a three-year term as the Bound Brook municipal judge from 2012 through 2015.

Teresa Van Allen, who has served as the court administrator for Bernardsville, will now serve as the court administrator for the three-town shared court.
