TOMS RIVER NJ - Bernards High School pole vaulter Francesca Porambo advanced to the prestigious NJSIAA Meet of Champions today.  Porambo, a junior, placed second at the NJSIAA Group II championships today at the John Bennett Indoor Sports Arena in Toms River.  Porambo cleared the bar at eleven feet six inches to advance.

Porambo's personal best in the pole vault is twelve feet and one half inch, which puts her in the mix for a state championship next week at the Meet of Champions.

Porambo was not the only Mountaineer to turn in a strong performance today.  The boys distance team of Stuart Gruters and Connor Roehr crossed the finish line at 4:29 and 4:31 in the 1600 meter run.
