DNA Samples Could Solve 2009 Death of Roxbury Councilman's Daughter

Poteau, OK – The father-in-law of Roxbury Councilman Jim Rilee’s deceased daughter told police he believes his son and wife were responsible for the woman’s death eight years ago, according to court recordspdf.

The statement recently prompted a judge to allow the taking of DNA samples that could help solve the case, now being labeled a murder by authorities.

The DNA was to be collected from Donald “Bo” Wilson, the husband of Rilee’s slain daughter, Jody, and from Wilson’s mother, Kathy Wilson, according to court documents. In affidavits requesting the warrants, police said the DNA samples will help them determine whether the Wilsons killed the former Roxbury resident in May 2009 and hid her body.

The death of Jody Nicole (Rilee) Wilson has remained a mystery and no charges have been filed. The decomposed body of the young mother was found on a remote Oklahoma mountain. She did not join her husband, daughter and in-laws on a trip to New Mexico for a funeral and authorities suspect she was killed by her husband shortly before he made the trip.

The search warrants were granted in large part due to statements made in May by Jody Wilson’s father-in-law, Jerry Don Wilson. According to an affidavit, Jerry Don Wilson told detectives he recalled his son and wife talking about getting rid of a body. The man also told police that his son subsequently confessed to him that he’d killed Jody Wilson by suffocating her with plastic, says the affidavit.

In asking for the search warrants, investigators said they want to determine whether DNA found in Jody Wilson’s abandoned vehicle matches that of Kathy Wilson and her son.
