EGG HARBOR CITY, NJ -- Bernards committed three turnovers in the first quarter and Cedar Creek scored the first 28 points en route to a 50-10 victory over the Mountaineers in the semifinal round of the Central Jersey, Group  2 playoffs on Saturday.

Bernards (8-2) got on the board in the second quarter on a25-yard field goal by Steven Lopez. After another Cedar Creek TD, the Mountaineers scored on a 42-yard pass from Teddy Gouldin to Jackson Tantleff. Cedar Creek led, 35-10, at halftime.

Cedar Creek, with a quarterback who has passed for more than 2,400 yards this season, added two TDs and a field goal in the second half.

After the game, the Bernards athletic department tweeted, "We lost the game but the loss does not define this team or the program. 8 wins and a home playoff victory! Proud of these kids. Thanks to the seniors for a great ride! We will be back!"
