BERNARDSVILLE, NJ — The Bernards football team scored all its points in the first half and rolled to a 49-6 victory over Immaculata in the final game of the season Wednesday night at Olcott Field.
Bernards (8-1) finished with an eight-game winning streak and was one of few teams this season to play nine games. The Mountaineers scored 40 points or more in five of their last six games.
Senior quarterback Teddy Gouldin passed for four touchdowns, two of them to Patrick Caldwell. A 40-yard pass from Gouldin to Caldwell and the first of seven extra points by Steven Lopez gave Bernards a 7-0 lead.
Luke Burns' 60-yard TD run extended the lead to 14-0. Gouldin also threw TD passes to Gavin Chieff and Evan Farlow and A.J. Mino scored on a 15-yard run.
Four of Bernards' touchdowns came on one-play drives. The Mountaineers lost on the road to Hillside, 14-9, on opening day. Since then, their only victory by less than 22 points was a 28-24 win over Delaware Valley on the road.
