SOMERSET HILLS NJ - Former Bernards High soccer star Montana Sutton scored a late goal to seal a victory for the University of Virginia Cavaliers over Liberty University on Sunday in Charlottesville, Va.  The Cavaliers are ranked 10th in the country with a record of 3-0.

Sutton's goal came in the 81st minute of the contest. With the Cavaliers leading, 1-0, Sutton blasted a shot on goal from 22 yards out.  Liberty's goalkeeper was able to get her hands on the ball, but was unable to prevent the ball from going in the goal.  Sutton's goal was the last score of the game. Virginia defeated Liberty by a final score of 2-0

Sutton, a midfielder, is now a junior at Virigina. She graduated from Bernards in 2015, and is no stranger to scoring goals. During her career at Bernards, Sutton scored 80 goals and added 40 assists.  She was part of the Mounties' 2013 team that reached the NJSIAA state finals.

The Cavaliers will put their undefeated record on the line on Thursday in a home game against the University of Wisconsin.
