According to the release, Soriano is an attorney who served most recently as assistant attorney general at the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice in Trenton. Before that, he was Somerset County Prosecutor for five years, and is a graduate of Brown University and Seton Hall University School of Law.

"Filling the shoes of Ray Brown will be an awesome task, but the commissioners and I are convinced that Geoff has the experience, the vision and the leadership ability to keep the commission moving forward," Bill Crosby, president of the park commission, said in the release.

Freeholder Mark Caliguire, liaison to the park commission said Soriano has great leadership qualities.

"Working with Ray will bring him up to speed on the day to day activities, after which he will be more than prepared to take on the leadership role while the search takes place," he said.

The Park Commission celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2016.
