Free Rabies Shots Clinic Coming Up in January in Bernards Twp. For All Member Towns

BERNARDS TWP., NJ - The Bernards Township Health Department will provide residents of the township and other member towns with another free rabies clinic for their dogs and cats, scheduled for Saturday Jan. 14, 2017.

The rabies vaccines will be administered from 10 a.m. to noon that day at the Bernards Township public works garage, 277 S. Maple Ave., Basking Ridge.

This is the last of three free rabies clinics that the Bernards Township Health Department held for its member towns in recent months. Previous clinics were held in Basking Ridge and in Mendham Township.

Bernards Township residents required to get shots and licenses for dogs and cats each year

As required by Bernards Township ordinance, 5-8.2, all dogs and cats in the township must be licensed every year by January 31, and have proof of rabies vaccination through the end of that year, according to the township health department website.

If resident's dog's or cat's rabies vaccination expires before the end of the new license year, the owners will need to have the animal vaccinated again prior to getting a new license, according to the township website.

Member towns

The Bernards Township Health Department, at 262 S. Finley Ave., is a contractual health agency serving Bernards Township, Bernardsville Borough, Chester Borough, Long Hill Township, Mendham Borough, Mendham Township, Peapack and Gladstone Borough.
