BERNARDSVILLE, NJ - The popular used book sale held each August by the Somerset Hills branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will be held later this week, giving book lovers an opportunity to browse among thousands of volumes on a wide variety of subjects, and also help support the AAUW's scholarships, local libraries and other supported charities.

For 65 years, the book sale has supported the local branch of the AAUW, with members from throughout the Somerset Hills and also provides opportunities for volunteers. Each year, Ridge High School students log community service hours at the fundraising sale.

"This is our only Branch fundraiser and a wonderful service project to our community," according to the organization's website. Even with bargain prices, the sale usually collects more than $25,000 for AAUW scholarships and other supported efforts. "One hundred percent of the money raised after expenses (which are not much) goes to charity. It is a terrific way to recycle used books and to foster camaraderie of fellow book enthusiasts!"
