Girls Basketball: Bernards Advances in SCT, Beats Immaculata, 65-52


SOMERVILLE, NJ - The Bernards girls basketball team advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Somerset County Tournament with a 65-52 victory over Immaculata Tuesday night.

Ninth-seeded Bernards (12-8) took control with a 17-9 showing in the second quarter that gave the Mountaineers a 27-23 lead at halftime. Bernards closed out the game by pulling away with a 22-15 edge in the fourth quarter.

Carolina Baratta poured in 25 points to lead Bernards. Jenna Whalen finished with 17 points in the victory. Jenna McHale totaled 10 points for the Mountaineers.

Bernards will challenge top-seeded Rutgers Prep in the county quarterfinals Thursday night in Somerset.

Franklin Township: Township Clerk Reinstated and Charges Dismissed

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ - Insurance fraud charges against Franklin Township Clerk Ann Marie McCarthy have been dropped, according to officials. 

"Ann Marie McCarthy has been reinstated," Township Manager Bob Vornlocker said in an email. "All charges filed by the Somerset County Prosecutor have been unconditionally administratively dismissed."
