Girls Lacrosse: Bernards Wins Group 2 State Championship

UNION, NJ - Laurel McHale and Paige Petty scored four goals each to lead Bernards to a 14-5 victory over Haddonfield for the NJSIAA Group 2 girls lacrosse state championship Saturday afternoon at Kean University.

Hanna Christian scored three goals for Bernards, which built a 7-1 lead by halftime.

McHale netted all of her goals in the opening half, giving her 100 for her career. Anne Gillis, Elise Cohan and Annie Thomas also scored goals for the Mountaineers, who won the championship this year after losing in the state final a year ago.

Bernards will take on Bridgewater-Raritan in the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions opening round Wednesday at a site to be determined.
