Ice Hockey: Ridge Beats Bernards, 3-1; Advances in Skylands Conference Tournament

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Brett Carey scored a goal and had two assists to lift Ridge to a 3-1 ice hockey victory over Bernards Saturday night at Bridgewater Sports Arena in the first round of the Skyland Conference Tournament.

Carey assisted Connor Villa on a goal with 9:28 left in the second period to give the top-seeded Red Devils a 2-1 lead. Just over five minutes later, Carey scored on a power play with an assist from Spencer Charleson for a 3-1 lead.

Jack Mandala scored Ridge's first goal with 6:20 showing in the opening period, with Carey and John Vilade assisting. Jason Stitt of eighth-seeded Bernards (3-17-3) tied the contest, 1-1, with a power play goal at the 5;14 mark of the first period.

Ridge (17-5-1) will play fourth-seeded Pingry in the tournament semifinal on Thursday.
