BERNARDSVILLE NJ - The Bernards High Athletic Department has announced that Mountaineers football star Matt Tantleff has signed a National Letter of Intent to play football for Monmouth University.

Tantleff comes off of a season in which the Mountaineers reached a sectional championship game for only the second time in school history.  As captain, he led the team to an 8-4 record, contributing on offense, defense and special teams.  The Courier News named Tantleff Offensive Player of the Year.

His statistics were enough to catch the attention not only of the Bernards High fans, but also of Monmouth University.   He caught 43 passes for 843 yards and seven TD.  He rushed 125 times for 1,017 yards and 18 TD.  He scored twice on kick returns and once on an interception.  Tantleff scored 172 points, the second highest total in Mountaineer history.
