BERNARDSVILLE, NJ -- New Jersey American Water will install approximately 6,320 feet of new 16-inch ductile iron water main in Bernardsville and Bernards Township beginning next week. The company will install the new water lines along the following streets: 

  • North Finley Avenue from Monroe Place to Morristown Road

  • Monroe Place from Ellis Drive to North Finley Avenue

  • Ellis Drive from East Craig Street to Monroe Place

  • East Craig Street from North Maple Avenue to Ellis Drive

This $2.3 million project will provide the ability to serve more customers in the future as the region continues to grow, according to New Jersey American Water's press release.

New Jersey American Water’s contractor, CRJ Contracting, Inc., will begin work the week of March 16 and expects to finish in approximately five weeks, weather permitting. Work hours for North Finley Avenue will be at night from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., while all other streets will be during the day from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. All work will take place Monday through Friday, and work outside of these hours is not expected unless required to maintain project schedule. Final street restorations will be completed in the late summer or early fall of 2020.

For the public’s and workers’ safety, traffic restrictions and/or alternating traffic patterns are likely to occur during work hours. All emergency vehicles and local traffic will be allowed access during construction. New Jersey American Water values the safety of its workers and advises drivers and pedestrians to take caution in the vicinity of work sites.
