PEAPACK-GLADSTONE NJ - The Peapack-Gladstone Borough Council voted unanimously Tuesday to hire a new Clerk/Administrator to replace departing Clerk/Administrator Hector Herrera, who is filling a vacancy in Bound Brook created by the resignation of former Bound Brook Administrator Gary Strathearn in the wake of Strathearn's guilty plea to official corruption charges on Jan. 11.

The incoming administrator, John Gregory, has served as the Borough Administrator in the Borough of High Bridge since December 2013. According to Peapack-Gladstone Mayor William Muller, Gregory began his career by working in a municipal public works department.

"Mr. Gregory put himself through college," said Muller, "and earned all of his government certifications as he worked his way up to the position of administrator."

The council appointed Gregory to a three-year term as borough clerk beginning on May 1, and a one-year term as borough administrator beginning on the same date.
