SOMERVILLE NJ - A Peapack-Gladstone man has been arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute one pound of marijuana by the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Narcotics Task Force, according to Prosecutor Michael H. Roberston. Endri Zenelaj, 23, was charged with two offenses after a Task Force investigation.
Robertson stated that the Task Force received information that on March 9, an individual known as "Endri" would be driving a black Mercedes-Benz in the area of the Far Hills Fair Grounds, and that he would be in possession of "a quantity of marijuana."
A surveillance team observed a black Mercedes-Benz in the area at about 4 p.m. After conducting a stop of the car, Task Force members approached Zenelaj and advised him of the ongoing investigation. The Task Force was assisted by the Bound Brook Police Department canine officer "Crusader."
Crusader conducted an exterior sniff of the Mercedes and gave a positive indication for the presence of narcotics inside the car. The Task Force obtained a search warrant for the care. Acting on the warrant, the officers searched the car, and found over one pound of marijuana inside the trunk. The officers seized the marijuana as evidence.
The Task Force then obtained a second search warrant for Zenelaj's Peapack-Gladtone residence. Members of the Task Force wth the assistance of the Far Hills and Peapack-Gladstone Police departments searched the residence and seized approximately two additional ounces of marijuana and a digital scale.
Authorities arrested Zenelaj and charged him with third degree possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a disorderly persons offense. Authorities estimate that the marijuana seized has a street value of $5,000.
Defendant Zenelaj was arrested on his own recognizance.
