Schaffer: Somerset Dems Committed to Immigrant Neighbors

SOMERSET HILLS, NJ - In the wake of Saturday's candlelight vigil on the steps of the Somerset County Courthouse, Somerset County Democratic Party Chair Peg Schaffer of Bedminster re-emphasized the Democratic Party's support for immigrants.

“It was very important that we showed our commitment to supporting our Muslim and immigrant neighbors, and that we showed our commitment to bedrock American values,” Chairwoman Peg Schaffer said. “It was important to continue to build momentum against the President’s unconstitutional and extreme agenda, and to show what we saw in November: Somerset County does not support this President’s vision for a xenophobic nation,” the chairwoman said.

The candlelight vigil was held by the Somerset County Democrats and the Young Democrats.  It drew elected officials and community organizers from across Somerset County.  The party estimates that over five hundred people attended the event.

Franklin Township: Township Clerk Reinstated and Charges Dismissed

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ - Insurance fraud charges against Franklin Township Clerk Ann Marie McCarthy have been dropped, according to officials.
