Six Taken to Overlook Medical Center After Three-car Crash on Interstate 78


BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Sunday night a car traveling east on Interstate 78 stalled and came to a complete stop in the travel lanes, causing a three car collision. The Berkeley Heights Fire Department and Volunteer Rescue Squad responded to the crash at Mile Post 43.8 at 10:10 p.m. on July 9, said Berkeley Heights Deputy Chief Jim Hopkins.

A total of six patients were transported to Overlook Hospital, including two juveniles. Seven other patients were triaged, but refused medical assistance, Hopkins said.

Emergency medical service (EMS) agencies that assisted were the New Providence EMS, Watchung Rescue Squad, Summit First Aid Squad and Atlantic EMS. 

The incident was cleared at 11:13 p.m.

Franklin Township: Township Clerk Reinstated and Charges Dismissed

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ - Insurance fraud charges against Franklin Township Clerk Ann Marie McCarthy have been dropped, according to officials. 

"Ann Marie McCarthy has been reinstated," Township Manager Bob Vornlocker said in an email. "All charges filed by the Somerset County Prosecutor have been unconditionally administratively dismissed."
