BERNARDS TWP., NJ _ A lot of history had been made in Basking Ridge and surrounding towns even back when The Historical Society of The Somerset Hills (THSSH) was founded in 1928, and THSSH continues making, recording, and presenting history 90 years later.
Along with holding with yearlong schedule of events to present living history exhibits, the historical society is now inviting the Somerset Hills community to celebrate THSSH's 90th anniversary at a free community party scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 15.
The anniversary party, planned for 2 to 5 p.m. in the parking lot at the Brick Academy _ the headquarters for THSSH _ at 15 W. Oak St. in Basking Ridge. The society honors and researches history in the Somerset Hills towns of Bernardsville, Bernards Township, Bedminster, Peapack and Gladstone and Far Hills.
Free event for all
All are welcome to the attend the free event with refreshments, food, giveaways, music _ and local history _ for "a fun afternoon to join friends, members, neighbors and all those
who support local history," according to THSSH.
Free burgers, hot dogs, and cake will be available, along with live music by The Cafe Racers, the planners say. "A few special surprise guests" are expected.
The event is sponsored by the Oak Tree Networking Group, including local small businesses.
