SOMERSET HILLS NJ - The National Weather Service has issued Winter Storm Watch for areas of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York for Wednesday night and Thursday morning.  The watch area includes the Somerset Hills.

Forecasters predict a significant winter storm for Wednesday night.  A period of sleet/rain will approach the area after midnight Wednesday, but by 3:00 am to 5:00 am Thursday, any mix will change to heavy snow which will continue through mid-morning. During this time, snowfall rates over one inch per hour are likely, and at times a rate of two to three inches per hour is possible.

This system is predicted to wind down by early Thursday afternoon, however not before producing widespread significant accumulations. There is still room for a shift in track, however totals of 4-8" or more are looking increasingly likely.
