STIRLING, NJ - "We are so excited and happy that everyone can join us today celebrating The Goddard School," said Sumara Ahmad, owner of Goddard School of Long Hill, at the school's first pre-k graduation.
The school celebrated it's opening June 2019 and features learning space for 135 students from six weeks to six years offering the "best childhood preparation for social and academic success."
The graduation was scheduled outdoors to adhere to the COVID-19 directives from state and local government with regard to social distancing. The 10 students walked the procession as parents proudly snapped photos of the youngest of graduates. They celebrated their achievements and received a certificate and a diploma certifying their preparedness for kindergarten in the fall.
Ahmad told the parents in attendance that it was a year that built a trust with the children, "providing your children with what they needed to develop and grow as preschoolers. -- We moved through the year and through the pandemic as a team, growing the learning and building a foundation for kindergarten. Soon they will be all off to a new school, engaging in new experiences and making new friends -- exploring the world outside The Goddard School. This is an exciting time for your child, and we hope the skills they learn here will help them with their new surroundings."
The school went to virtual teaching mid March due to coronavirus and offered online classes and zoom sessions for the children to continue learning while being isolated in their homes.
"They did a great job with the virtual teaching," said a mom of a graduate. "During the kindergarten screening, we were very impressed with what she knew. She rocked the kindergarten screening, you would be so proud of her," she told Ahmad.
"We are so proud that we had that opportunity to have had an impact in your child's early childhood development," said Ahmad. "We thank you for sharing your children with us. We thank you for being dedicated parents and supporting your children and our teachers."
There was a reception following the ceremony with plenty of photo opportunities for the school friends and families.
