BERNARDSVILLE, NJ — Bernardsville police are investigating two separate auto thefts that occurred overnight Monday into early Tuesday morning in the borough.

According to the Bernardsville Police Department, at 6:12 a.m. a resident of Pheasant Hill Drive reported that a beige 2016 Audi A6 valued at approximately $19,000 had been stolen. The resident reported that the Audi was stolen while it was parked outside the residence sometime between 11 p.m. on Oct. 12 and 6 a.m. on Oct. 13. The car was reportedly left unlocked and the keys were left in the vehicle according to the victim.

The same morning, a resident of Mount Harmony Road reported to the Bernardsville Police Department that a blue 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee valued at approximately $25,000 had been stolen. The resident reported that the Jeep was taken from outside his residence at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 13. The car was reportedly left unlocked and the keys were left in the vehicle according to the victim.

Neither vehicle has been recovered.

Bernardsville Police Lt. John Remian strongly advised residents to practice common crime prevention measures to prevent incidents like this from occurring. “It is important to lock vehicles and secure the keys in a secure place to prevent them from being stolen," Remian said. "The Police Department encourages residents to report any suspicious activity, persons or vehicles immediately to the Police Department. Police will need a description of the activity observed the location and a description of any people or vehicles involved in the activity you report."
 
Police are asking residents in the area of the reported thefts to review any security cameras recordings they may have to see if they captured any information that might aid police in this investigation. Anyone with information is requested to contact the Police Department at (908) 766-0037.
