Entertaining & Educational Activities for All Ages

BASKING RIDGE, NJ - The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs to help children and adults enjoy the wonders of nature as fall arrives in Somerset County. The Environmental Education Center provides many entertaining and educational programs for children and adults year around.
            Saturday, November 21 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.
Children ages infant to 5 with a parent will listen to a Naturalist read an
            environmental-based story and enjoy a short walk on the trails of
            the EEC.
            The program is free.

An Archeological Adventure
            Saturday, November 14 from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.
            Family and friends, (children age 12 and over with a parent) will join Dr.
                        Alan Cooper for an illustrated lecture on the public archeology
                        program at Lenape Meadow that took place from 1995 to 2011.
            Fee is $8 per person

Thanksgiving for the Animals
            Saturday, November 21 from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M.
Family and friends of all ages will learn what they can do to help animals
            survive the cold and snow of winter in this hands-on class.
            Fee is $8 per person
            Register online at or call 908-766-2489.                               Advance payment required.
Family Nature Walk – FREE PROGRAM
            Sunday, November 22 from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 P.M.
Family and friends will enjoy a Naturalist-led interpretive walk
            through the Great Swamp.
            The program is free and pre-registration is not required.

Blue “BOBO (Buy One – Bring One) Fridays” bins now are located at the Environmental Education Center and Lord Stirling Stable in Basking Ridge, as well as at the Somerset County Park Commission headquarters at North Branch Park in Bridgewater.  The public is invited to drop off canned food or personal-care items for donation to Somerset County food banks.
