CHATHAM, NJ - Valairco Heating and Cooling established their ValaircoCares program as part of their 50th anniversary celebration. Each quarter a charity or nonprofit organization is nominated to receive the $500 donation on Valairco’s website.

“When we started in business we did a lot of work in the Chatham area,” said Valairco founder Richard Valenti.  “We established this program ValaircoCares, where we give back to the community every three months… this time it is you.”  Troop 280 sang out, “thank you” in unison, as Valenti and Kevin McHugh, owner of Valairco presented them with a check for $500. The presentation took place at Stanley Congregational Church in Chatham Borough, where the girls were preparing for that evening’s Court of Honor ceremony.

The Chatham-based Scouts BSA Troop 280 is an all girl Troop founded earlier this year.  The Scouts of Troop 280 hail from Chatham, Berkeley Heights, Morristown and Summit and range in age from 11 to 17, many of the girls have their sights set on earning the prestigious Eagle rank.

Scoutmaster Daniele Basralian eagerly shared that the Troop’s plan for the donation was to purchase some much needed gear. Until now, the girls found themselves borrowing gear from local Boy Scout troops. Virginie Aris said, “We have to make sure the gear is in tip-top shape when we return it to them or sometimes they are camping the same weekend, so we can’t borrow it because they’re using it.”  Basrailian added, “if you don’t have the gear, then you can’t provide the program.  We really appreciate this, now we can get a patrol box, be more independent and have more opportunities for the girls.”

Valenti ended the evening by reminiscing with Basralian and Aris about his days as a Boy Scout leader, “I know what you’re doing and it’s a great thing.”
