BEDMINSTER, NJ -- New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials Thursday announced overnight lane closures on I-287 northbound beginning Thursday night.

From 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. the next morning tonight, Thursday, April 9 and tomorrow night, Friday, April 10, NJDOT’s contractor, Della Pello Paving, Inc., will close the left lane and shoulder on I-287 northbound beginning near Exit 22/Route 202/206 in Bedminster through Exit 35/South Street-CR601 in Morristown.  The closure is necessary to restripe the roadway in preparation for a traffic shift. Next week, lane closures will continue overnight to place construction barrier to allow for guiderail and parapet improvements. Once the traffic shift is in place, it will remain for approximately two months.

The $18 million, federally funded project will preserve approximately 13 miles of I-287 northbound from Route 202/206 just north of Exit 22 in Bedminster through South Street/CR 601 in Morristown. During this stage, traffic will be shifted to the right.

This stage of the work is expected to be completed in the summer. During the next stage of construction the northbound travel lanes will be overlaid with a High Performance Thin Overlay (HPTO) and I-287 northbound ramps will be milled and paved, and overlaid with HPTO or resurfaced with slurry seal.
