BASKING RIDGE, NJ – As the sun was rising on a beautiful Tuesday morning, Fellowship Senior Living leaders lined up [while social distancing] in front of the Health Center at Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge to “applaud” their heroes, their front-line team members from the Healthcare Center and Home Community Based Services (Home Care and Hospice) as they came to or from work.

Fellowship Village Care Partners and healthcare workers are on the front line every day – making the lives they serve better during these difficult times.  “We thank each of our team members for their spirit of engagement, compassion, and service to all those we care for and serve, especially our health care providers who interact with our residents throughout the day. I recognize and appreciate that they are working tirelessly to ensure that everyone stays healthy and those we serve are properly cared for,” said Brian Lawrence, President & CEO Fellowship Senior Living.

Each team member was given a thank-you gift bag which included a note of appreciation and promise of $100 bonus coming their way on Friday, a bagel and a Jersey Mikes sub. Fellowship teamed up with Jersey Mikes of Warren who donated 50 percent of the cost of the sub sandwiches. With over 500 team members, the bonus checks come at quite a cost, worth it to show appreciation to an entire team for everything they are doing during this unprecedented time.

As the novel coronavirus situation in New Jersey continues to evolve and expand exponentially, Fellowship has experienced some confirmed cases of COVID-19 on the Fellowship Village campus with one 95-year-old female who passed in the Health Center with several underlying pre-existing medical conditions. “Regardless of her serious medical conditions the loss of any of our Fellowship family hits us very hard.  We extend our deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to her family and friends as well as to all those who have lost someone to COVID-19,” said Lawrence.

In compliance with CDC and CMS guidelines, Fellowship has a very stringent screening process of all team members and essential personnel for symptoms of respiratory illnesses and G.I. symptoms and any possible exposures. Additionally, Fellowship has been following CDC, CMS and NJDOH guidelines for infection control and precautions including but not limited to enhanced sanitation of community spaces, modification of services to promote social distancing, no visitation, use of personal protective (PPE) and suspending all group gatherings.

"We are vigilant, when somebody is sick, don't come in," said Lawrence. "We are very unbending for the protection of everybody here. We know the risk is there -- we are going to do everything we can to make that risk as small as possible."

“Thank you, to all our team members, for your dedication, hard work, and commitment, today and every day, and to all our Residents, Members, Patients, and Clients, for your adherence to all the precautions established by the CDC to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Together, we can ensure that Fellowship Village has the best chance to stay ahead of the coronavirus,” he said.

"Today is a special day," said Lawrence.
