BASKING RIDGE, NJ – Fellowship Senior Living has continued to act with an abundance of caution making the health and safety of their residents at Fellowship Village their most important priority, which has mitigated the spread of COVID-19.
“Since the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) we have continued to monitor this dynamic and fluid situation on a daily basis. Fellowship Senior Living is taking the appropriate measures as outlined by the Centers for Disease Management (CDC) and state and local health officials in collaboration with our Medical Director and our Infectious Disease Specialist,” said Brian Lawrence, President and CEO Fellowship Senior Living.
The healthcare team has continued to enact protocols to protect against COVID-19. Measures include protective equipment to all team members, no visitation to the community with screening and temperature checks for all essential persons. Protocols including suspending communal dining and group/in-person activities, which have been replaced with live streaming of entertainment to each resident’s TVs. Education of team members and residents about the transmission of COVID-19 and adherence of precautions is on-going.
“I feel incredibly fortunate to be here, where protective measures were instituted much earlier than I would have adopted them on my own; where my needs are so well provided for that I rarely need to go out; where medical help is available 24/7; where in-house televised entertainment, information and inspiration mitigate my isolation; and where my daily walk is in the midst of such natural beauty," said Helen Beglin, an Independent Living Resident.
As the novel coronavirus situation in New Jersey continues to evolve and expand exponentially with close to 62,000 known positive cases, Fellowship has experienced seven confirmed cases of COVID-19 on the Fellowship Village campus with two 95-year-old females who passed in the Health Center with several underlying pre-existing medical conditions.
“Regardless of their serious medical conditions the loss of any of our Fellowship family hits us very hard. We extend our deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to their family and friends as well as to all those who have lost someone to COVID-19,” said Lawrence. Fellowship continues to take the precautions as recommended by the CDC, CMS and local and state health officials and is cohorting its five active cases in a dedicated localized area in its Skilled Nursing facility.
“We continue to offer every assurance to our residents, members, patients, clients, and their families as well as our team members that Fellowship Senior Living will be following all recommendations and will act in the best interests of our entire Fellowship Village community. Special thanks goes to all our team members, for their dedication, hard work, and commitment – especially our frontline healthcare providers for their tireless efforts being here each day for our residents,” said Lawrence.
