BASKING RIDGE, NJ - The St. James Men of Charity's 11th annual Harvestfest and Beer Tasting, on Saturday, boasted a sampling of brews from about 15 breweries and local distributors from around New Jersey. This popular event also is an important fundraiser for the St. James Men of Charity that gives back to local families in need for housing, utilities, food, medical needs, and more.
The tasting offered beer styles that appealed to the range of tastes for both the seasoned and novice craft beer drinker. Guests enjoyed a variety of IPAs, Pale Ales, Kölsch, Stout, Pilsner, Lagers, as well as a variety of seasonal pumpkin flavored beer. Guests had the opportunity visit each booth and chat and learn more about brewing process, ingredients and the NJ breweries' tap rooms.
To compliment the brew, the kitchen was serving a full Harvestfest buffet that included spatzle, laugenbrezelin [also known as soft pretzels], and bratwurst, to name a few of the German delicacies.
At the end of the evening, the silent auction/tricky tray winners were announced and each of the participating breweries were presented with a plaque in recognition for their participation.
The Saint James Men of Charity is a charitable group of Saint James parish and the community at large. The group is open to all men, meeting on the third Wednesday of each month at 8 p. m. in the pastoral center.
