COLONIA, NJ -- The Bernards baseball team pounded out 14 hits and came away with an 8-2 victory over Colonia Saturday in its final game before the start of the state tournament.

Connor Goodman hit a two-run double, James Kessler rapped a two-run single and four players collected two hits apiece for the Mountaineers (10-11). Ryan Falduto, Andrew Holmes, Tom Orlic and Chris Reyda each had two hits for Bernards, which scored three runs in the fourth inning and three in the fifth to take a 6-0 lead.

David Iaione pitched four shutout innings, allowing just one hit and one walk and striking out three, for the victory.
