MONTGOMERY, NJ -- Bernards High School opened its 2019-2020 swim season last week with the Cougar Relays at Montgomery High School.

There were 21 girls and 11 boys representing Bernards, which dominated the meet by capturing the gold medal in nine of the 12 events, and taking the silver in two of them.  

Gold medal winners were:
Girls medley relay: Izzy Piccone, Grace Korey, Maddie Kiel, Sami Bender; Boys medley relay:  Ryan Schuller, Sean Robinson, Joe Kiel, Bryce Lukacsko; Boys free relay: Everett Bailey, Noah Youssef, Vinnie Falivene, Ryan Schuller; Boys breast relay: Matt Snyder, Joe, Bryce, Sean Robinson; Girls back relay: Izzy Piccone, Maddie Kiel, Tara Hartnett, Sami Bender; Boys back relay: Ryan Schuller, Everett Bailey, Noah Youssef, Joe Kiel (new school record of 1:50.28).
Mixed fly relay: Bryce Lukacsko, Maddie Kiel, Matt Snyder, Sami Bender; Mixed medley relay: Sami Bender, Bryce Lukacsko, Matt Snyder, Grace Korey; Mixed IM relay: Ryan Schuller, Everett Bailey, Grace Korey, Izzy Piccone.

Silver medal winners:
Boys medley relay: Alex Ruffer, Noah Youssef, Matt Snyder, Vinnie Falivene; Mixed medley relay: Izzy Piccone, Sean Robinson, Joe Kiel, Maddie Kiel.  

Bernards will open the regular dual meet season at home against Skyland Conference foe Belvidere on Dec. 4.

The Mountaineers boys' and girls' swim teams both won the 2019 Skyland Conference Valley Division, and the girls were the 2019 North 2, Group C State Sectional champions.
