HARRISON, NJ -- The Bernards boys soccer team claimed the school's second sectional championship in four years with a shootout victory over Harrison Friday afternoon.

Bernards outscored Harrison, 4-1, in the penalty kick shootout after the teams had played to a 1-1 tie through regulation and two 10-minute overtimes.

Gilberto Ferreira scored for Bernards (17-2-1) with an assist from JJ Zaun with 32 minutes left in the second half after the teams had played to a 0-0 draw in the opening half. Harrison (20-2-1) tied the game on a goal with 2:40 left in regulation.

Bernards will play Jefferson in the Group 2 state semifinal Wednsday at 6 p.m., tentatively scheduled to be held at Millburn High School.
