WATCHUNG, NJ -- The Bernards field hockey team won the school's third consecutive Somerset County Tournament championship Saturday with a 4-1 victory over Bridgewater-Raritan.

Kate Thomas scored two goals and assisted on one for the second-seeded Mountaineers. Lilly Hengerer had one goal and one assist and Mackenzie Brown scored a goal for Bernards (14-4-1).

Hope Kaczynski, a freshman, made seven saves for the Mountaineers, who led, 2-0, at halftime.

All of Bernards' three straight county titles have come against Bridgewater-Raritan. In each of the last two years, Bernards beat BRHS in overtime.
