BERNARDSVILLE, NJ -- The Bernards football team made its home opener a happy occasion with a 44-0 victory over Spotswood on Friday night.

Junior slotback Joey Billotti scored three touchdowns in the first quarter to stake the Mountaineers (1-1) to a 21-0 lead going into the second period. Billotti scored on a 40-yard run to open the scoring, before bringing a punt back for a TD and then scoring on another long run.

A.J. Mino's TD run extended the Bernards lead to 28-0 before halftime. Steven Lopez kicked a 36-yard field goal.

Bernards will be on the road against A.L. Johnson in Clark next Friday night.
