METUCHEN, NJ -- The Bernards girls basketball team couldn't come all the way back from an early hole in a 56-39 loss to Hightstown Friday in the first round of the Metuchen Tournament.

Hightstown broke out to a 15-3 lead after one quarter before the Mountaineers played their opponents evenly in a 9-9 second quarter.

Freshman guard Sydney Incarnato scored nine points and senior guard Riley DeMarrais contributed eight points for Bernards, which will have a consolation game on Saturday.
