SOMERVILLE, NJ – This coming Memorial Day, cyclists from around the globe will compete in the 73rd Annual Tour of Somerville. Over two days, 600 competitors will race through Somerville and Bound Brook, in front of more than 15,000 spectators. On May 30, the tour will culminate in the 50-mile Kugler-Anderson Memorial, the nation’s oldest major bicycle race.

Race organizers have announced that numerous sponsorship opportunities are available for local corporations, businesses, and non-profit organizations to promote their brands. With access to a unique mix of participants and spectators, these opportunities are expected to disappear quickly.

The event is promoted by Arts on Division, a Somerset County resource that promotes culture and the arts for the benefit of Jack’s Kids – a Somerville Elks initiative that eases the financial burden to families dealing with a serious childhood illness and/or serious disabilities.

Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli, 2016 Honorary Chair of the 2016 Jack’s Kids Softball Tournament, said, “It’s very exciting to be a part of the Tour of Somerville – it’s such a huge community event, with so many locals and guests from around the world. We’re so impressed with and grateful for the generosity of the tour sponsors.”

The free Tour of Somerville, described by Sports Illustrated as “the greatest bargain in sport,” is much more than just the action of a fast-paced, multi-lap race. Wrapped around it are a street fair, music festival and neighborhood lawn party, all in the historic streets of downtown Somerville.

Past competitors, including Tour de France winner Greg LeMond and Olympic gold medalist Eric Heiden, have applauded the size and enthusiasm of the crowds lining the course and the sense of community that defines racing in Somerville and Bound Brook.

Middle Earth, another local non-profit supporting the tour, works with youth to provide prevention, intervention and crisis services. It will be providing youth volunteers to help make the event an enjoyable one.

Parts of the Tour of Somerville Cycling Series will be held on Sunday, May 29 in Bound Brook, providing for a two-day marathon exposure opportunity for sponsors, along with a variety of smaller opportunities,  according to event chair Lisa Yates-Werner.

Those interested in discussing remaining sponsorships can contact Lisa Werner at info@tourofsomerville.org.
