Firefighters Extiniguish Townhouse Fire at Kingsberry Acres

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ - Firefighters extinguished a blaze at Kingsberry Acres Tuesday morning.

The fire started in a two-and-a-half story townhouse at approximately 6:30 a.m. Firefighters were still on the scene at 9 a.m., by which time the fire had been extinguished.

There were several holes in the roof where firefighters had vented the fire; the sheathing and shingles were gone and the roof rafters exposed.

Police and volunteer firefighters from several departments responded to the fire.

Unknown is whether there were any injuries, whether the townhouse was occupied and whether any adjoining units were affected.

Built between 1983 and 1987, Kingsberry Acres is a townhouse development that spreads across 40 acres off Route 27, about four miles south of downtown New Brunswick. Each townhouse ranges in size from 1,546 sq. ft to 1,648 sq. ft., with several listed for sale on the internet for prices ranging between $243,000-$261,000.
